Today we read an excerpt from House on Mango Street--"My Name." The class experienced strategies that good readers employ to dig deeper into their reading experiences. We are making this journey in preparation for writing about literature and citing from the text to validate our assertions.

Remember to sign up for Remind texts--both students and parents.

For class preparation, students should research their names. What does their name mean. Can they find out additional information about the roots of their names. Are they named for a particular individual. Have they experienced instances where someone has defined them based on their name or circumstances. We are asking these questions so that we can consider where we come from, and how who we are, as well as our past, can affect people's perceptions of us.

Teachers have to turn in Code of Conduct and Health forms tomorrow, so please help us by asking for these!
