Students are drafting their "I am from" poems that we began talking about on Friday. For class tomorrow, students should have 15 lines, 5 stanzas (three lines) each that describes where they are from. This is not a literal "from" poem. They will share their poems with small groups and the groups will choose the most powerful line to become part of the class "We are from" poem.

I returned initial paragraph writings from "My Name" by Sandra Cisneros. Third period returns theirs on Wednesday, Fifth on Thursday, and Sixth on Friday. I read and provided feedback as to what needs to be done to the writing for it to meet the standards. Students were also provided with models and a model today to place in the resource section of their notebooks.
