Ready for Grading

We are at the point now where we have established some expectations regarding our writing. As such, students have received feedback on their first writing assignment and are now turning their rewrites in for a grade. Third period paragraphs were due today, fifth period paragraphs are due on Thursday, 8/18, and sixth period paragraphs are due on Friday, 8/19.

Students have also written poems describing where they are from. All poems should be submitted by Friday. I will have the initial grades in by Monday for everything we have worked on thus far.

We read "Fish Cheeks" in class today and began thinking about our first Notice & Note skill: What surprised me. Third period did an exceptional job in maintaining their focus and digging through the text in order to gain a fuller understanding of the passage.

We will have a quick formative assessment using our devices tomorrow. Anyone without a device will complete a traditional pen and paper assessment. I sent out a remind text letting everyone know to go ahead and install Socrative Student; this is the app we will use for quick informal assessments.

We will have a pre-assessment soon regarding our Quarter 1 Performance Assessment.
