TEST TOMORROW. STUDY, PLAN, AND ORGANIZE YOUR IDEAS.

For the past two days we have been finishing our discussion on our immigration documents. Students are now ready to demonstrate they can understand what they've read and apply that understanding to a writing situation.

Students were given a rubric that outlines what the expectations are for the in-class extended response. i modeled how to quickly write an introduction and a conclusion. Our focus should be on the body paragraph. We are just writing one body paragraph for this assignment; however, as we move ahead in the writing process, we will add additional body paragraphs.

Students were encouraged to select which documents they would use on the response as well as writing their thesis, concluding statement, and anything else they feel would help them to fully address the prompt. The more planning they do ahead, the better prepared they will be to take this test.

If you do not see your student making these plans, then they are not fully taking advantage of this opportunity.
