We began our study of "Bonne Annee," a personal essay about a family of refugees from Haiti. Students will complete a variety of activities that will ask them to think about the essay and to evaluate what techniques the author employs to help the reader understand his message.
All activities are due on Friday. Our assessment on this selection will require the students to write about the essay. In order to complete this task, students will need to have read the selection at least twice and will have filled out all of the necessary handouts. The more thoughtfully they make notes, the easier it will be for them to respond to the essay.
Students will have received the information for using the on-line text book, in the event that they are out of class and need to do any reading or completing of activities. This information should be recorded in their planners.
We reviewed Active & Passive Voice and will have a final formal assessment on that on Monday. At that time students will begin their study of verb mood.
