In order for students to be ready to discuss the topic of high school dropouts, they should have read 4 different resources that discuss this topic.
These resources are in the student "Performance Assessment" workbook. In addition to reading, students were supposed to highlight how each resource addresses this topic.
Are there logical reasons to allow students to drop out before graduation? If so, what are they?
Are there long-term consequences to the student, the family, the community, the nation, when we allow young adults to drop out prior to graduation? If so, what are they?
Does education adequately address the evolving students of the 21st Century? if so, how?
Food for thought!
Pages 13-15 of the workbook should be filled out, highlighted, and students should have some idea regarding how these topics can be answered if they refer back to the resources.
Students will be writing a 4-paragraph persuasive essay next week and will be using these resources to formulate that argument.
