We are starting the week a little behind, but what we are working on is worth spending the additional time. In additional to these daily items, students are working on a grammar calendar and students are listening to the novel, Milkweed, read by the teacher. Outside of class, students are reading an independently selection fiction novel for a Novel Project due on November 4th.
This week ahead
:
Monday, Wrap up "The Monkey's Paw reading: "Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it."
Tuesday: Guided reading questions. Answering these questions will help students to work on skills necessary for short answer. In additional to demonstrating understanding, students use the text to back up their assertions.
Wednesday & Thursday: Working on compare/contrast essay (a major grade). Students compare and contrast "The Monkey's Paw" and "King Midas." Students will have a graphic organizer and a model essay to help them understand the expectations for this assignment.
Friday: Given that the student has the week's work accomplished, they will have some reading time. Weather permitting, we might go outside!
