3, 5, 6: Personal Narrative due on Wednesday

We will begin reading Trifles, a one-act play. After reading the play, the students will write a short constructed response on how the playwright users elements of characterization to explain Mrs. Wright's actions.

From this play about how the woman feels caged in by her life, students will read "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," Maya Angelou's poem. This will begin our brief poetry study. After looking at several poems, the students will do a quick comparative study of poetry versus song lyrics.

4th period:

Monday: Student write personal narratives retelling "The Night I Won the Right to the Streets of Memphis" from Momma's point of view.

Tuesday-Friday: Poetry Study

2nd Nine Weeks QPAs begin on Tuesday, 12/13 - 12/19
