Week of 30 January 2017

Assessments this week:

Tuesday: TEST (Paragraph on a chapter from Ben Carson's memoir); students have had this assignment and rubric for a week and have been provided enough class time to complete the paragraph in class.)

Thursday: Quiz on Prefixes (10)

Friday: Quiz on Participles and Gerunds (we have been practicing these for 2 weeks).

This week we will wrap up Carson's memoir and get ready for a Black History project that is due on the 22nd of February. This project includes researching a Black person who has made a contribution to society but is lesser known. After researching, students will write three paragraphs on that individual and complete a Prezi presentation to share with the class. Presentations will take place on the 24th and 25th of February. The paper and presentation will count as separate TEST grades.

We will be in the lab on 7, 9, and 10 February for researching and writing.

We will be in the computer lab on the 14th & 16th of February to work on the Prezi presentation.

Students will receive the assignment and rubric on 1 February.

We will continue studying "verbals" and prefixes.
